The piston head has now been reunited with the piston rod and both cross head cotters fitted after the necessary machining. It is planned to reassemble the motion on FR 20 at Blaenavon this Wednesday after which the locomotive will undergo an in-steam test.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3013\" src=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/20230802_142554A-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Jonathan Dixon working in 5643's frames\" width=\"660\" height=\"880\" srcset=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/20230802_142554A-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/20230802_142554A-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/>Back at Preston work has been progressing steadily on the overhaul of Great Western 0-6-2T No. 5643.
