As readers of this blog will be aware, Fred suffered a medical problem recently and we were all hoping that we would see him back again at Preston in the not-too-distant future. However, Fred was taken into Lancaster Royal Infirmary last week for tests after continuing to feel unwell.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3222\" src=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/20230728_133215A-895x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Fred Jones about to start with a new wire brush\" width=\"660\" height=\"755\" srcset=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/20230728_133215A-895x1024.jpg 895w, https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/20230728_133215A-262x300.jpg 262w, https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/20230728_133215A-768x879.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px\" \/>Fred loved railways and thoroughly enjoyed working both at Haverthwaite and at Preston, taking on board the many less glamourous jobs, particularly \u00a0of cleaning and painting components. He is pictured above after having worn out yet another cup wire brush. He will be very much missed by us all. However, David has now been in touch to say that he has been in hospital.
