Anne and Phil Burton were also there to operate the FRT sales stand and make some useful money for the Trust. We can also reveal that there have been more on-line book sales, making Chris Rycroft\u2019s efforts in setting up the sales system all the more worthwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/ciac\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Book-launch-GS-753x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Tim and the new book in front of FR 20 at Preston\" class=\"wp-image-1830\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>There was glorious weather on Saturday so we are pleased to be able to include this great photo sent to us by Mike Ward of FR 20 crossing the swing bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/ciac\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1000034992-Mike-Ward-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"FR 20 on the swing bridge\" class=\"wp-image-1831\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Great Eastern Railway royal saloon No. 5 of 1898 was also in service with appropriately attired personnel on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/ciac\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250712_134119-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"GER No. 5 in service at Preston\" class=\"wp-image-1832\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Not quite so good news from inside the FRT shed was the discovery on GWR No. 5643 of a crack in the internal boiler pipe that carries the regulator rod. Yet another job to sort out, but a very useful spot whilst the tubes are out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/furnessrailway.co.uk\/ciac\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG-20250712-WA0001-SM-787x1024.jpg\" alt=\"The cracked pipe in 5643's boiler\" class=\"wp-image-1833\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>We are pleased to report, however, that the FRT\u2019s literary output has continued apace with the latest edition of \u2018The Iron Horse\u2019 expected to go to the printer today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, another date for your diary is the \u2018Our Lives\u2019 programme entitled \u2018The World\u2019 Oldest Railway\u2019 filmed at the Tanfield Railway which is scheduled to be shown on BBC 1 at 19.00 hrs tomorrow evening where you will see some familiar faces.
